Publix announced that it will give raises to all hourly workers and some managers, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
The announcement comes on the heals of recent wage increases by competing retailers Walmart and Target which both raised the minimum wage of their hourly workers to $11 per hour. Target will also implement a second raise to $12 per hour later this year.
Publix did not disclose the amount or percentage of the wage increases.
Publix is Florida’s largest employer with around 190,000 employees which slightly fluctuates due to seasonality.
