Florida Man Shot By Gun On Hip During Motorcycle Crash

MELBOURNE, Florida – A Florida man is in serious condition when a gun holstered to his hip discharged a bullet into his leg during a motorcycle crash.

32-year-old Brian Alexander of Melbourne, Florida was riding a 1984 Honda motorcycle westbound on West New Haven Avenue in Melbourne, Florida around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

For an unknown reason, Alexander lost control of the motorcycle which then struck a curb and overturned near the intersection of Vista Lake Circle.

Both Alexander and his passenger, 36-year-old Alexis Travis of Rockledge, Florida, were ejected during the crash.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, when Alexander hit the road, a gun holstered to his hip discharged and shot him in the leg. He was later transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.

Travis only suffered minor injuries.

Both occupants were wearing helmets at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a factor, according to FHP.
