FHP Searching For Palm Bay Fatal Hit-and-Run Driver

PALM BAY, Florida – The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s assistance to help identify a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred just before midnight on Sunday, May, 27, 2018 in Palm Bay, Florida.

According to FHP, a 2016 Infinity was traveling westbound on Palm Bay Road.

Meanwhile, a 51-year-old man was riding a bicycle westbound in the bicycle lane near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard.

For an unknown reason, the Inifinity traveled into the bike lane and the front of the vehicle struck the rear of the bicycle.

The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected by the impact. He was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Infinity fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle which was later recovered by West Melbourne police.
