PALM BAY, Florida – On March 15, 2019, the Florida Department of Education permanently revoked the teaching certificate of a former teacher and head basketball coach at Palm Bay Magnet High School for inappropriately touching a student.
Brevard Public Schools teacher Stephen Donohoe allowed one of his basketball players to come over to his residence during the 2015-16 school year.
While at the teacher’s residence, Donohoe “stretched and massaged” the 18-year-old student in the groin area which made the student feel uncomfortable, according to documents filed with FDOE in 2018.
The FDOE also permanently barred Donohoe from re-applying for a teaching certificate in the State of Florida.
Donohoe is among a long list of Brevard Public School employees who have been disciplined for sexual offenses related to children in recent years.
In July 2017, a former BPS bus driver and substitute teacher was arrested on allegations of child molestation.
In July 2017, a Satellite High School teacher was charged with lewd and lascivious conduct and promotion of sexual performance of a child under 16 years of age.
In June 2016, a Spessard Holland Elementary School principal was arrested for possession of child pornography.
In May 2016, an Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School teacher plead guilty to having sex with a 15-year-old student.
