MIAMI, Florida – NOAA’s National Hurricane Center issued a Tropical Weather Outlook at 2 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, August 4, 2019, due the presence of Invest 96L that may become a tropical cyclone over the Atlantic Ocean.
If Invest 96L becomes a tropical storm, the next name on the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane names list is Tropical Storm Chantal.
The 2019 Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30.
Invest 96L 2019 Projected Path
Invest 96L is a tropical wave that is producing limited showers and thunderstorms located 200 miles east of the Lesser Antilles (marked with a yellow “X”).
According to the National Hurricane Center, environmental conditions are forecast to become unfavorable and development of this system is not anticipated.
Invest 96L has a 0% chance of tropical cyclone formation within the next 48 hours.
Invest 96L 2019 Spaghetti Models
Spaghetti models are in agreement that Invest 96L will track west-northwesterly across the tropical Atlantic towards the Lesser Antilles.
However, the computer models begin to diverge in both projected track and intensity after 12 hours when Invest 96L nears the Lesser Antilles.
The reliable European hurricane model (orange line with triangles) forecasts that Invest 96L will dissipate before reaching the Lesser Antilles.
