TITUSVILLE, Florida – A Titusville man was arrested Wednesday night after an investigation by Titusville Police Detectives into the unintentional shooting of a juvenile.
Just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, Titusville Police responded to a report of a 13-year-old boy being accidentally shot at a home on Yorkshire Drive.
The boy had been shot in the torso area and was transported to a trauma center by helicopter with serious injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed that 40-year-old Bryan Gabriel Kelly was in his home attempting to unload a handgun.
Police say that Kelly unintentionally discharged the weapon that shot a 13-year-old child in the home.
Witness statements corroborate the suspect’s description of the incident and investigators found no evidence of a willful or intentional act.
The Titusville man was arrested and charged with Aggravated Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm.
Kelly was booked into Brevard County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
The condition of the child was listed as stable.
