MELBOURNE, Florida – A 26-year-old Brevard County woman died as a result of injuries she sustained in a crash that occurred on I-95 just south of the interchange with U.S. 192 near Melbourne, Florida.
Just after 4 a.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2019, Stephanie Edwards, of Rockledge, Florida, was driving a 2012 Nissan Maxima northbound in the middle lane of I-95.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Maxima traveled into the outside lane and onto the grassy shoulder where it struck a utility pole.
Edwards was transported from the scene to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida, where she later died.
According to FHP, the driver was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
A toxicology report is still pending.
