COCOA BEACH, Florida – A man was shot during a robbery that occurred at the Fawlty Towers Motel located at 100 East Cocoa Beach Causeway in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, a caller reported to the Cocoa Beach Police Department that a man had been shot in the head during a robbery committed by four masked suspects in room 108 of the motel.

When police arrived, they discovered the 46-year-old Shawn M. McGraw of Cocoa Beach unresponsive.

Brevard County Fire Rescue crews transported McGraw to Cape Canaveral Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Cocoa Beach Police believe the shooting was an isolated event associated with criminal activity.

This is the second shooting at Fawlty Towers in Cocoa Beach. The last shooting occurred in 2013.

Fawlty Towers gained notoriety for becoming a clothing-optional resort in 2012. The motel has since reverted back to a clothing-only resort.

The resort, which opened in 1988, is located in the heart of Cocoa Beach’s tourist district, just one block away from Ron Jon Surf Shop and on the main road leading to Shepard Park, a popular beach park for visiting tourists.

Brevard County Sherriff’s Office helicopter, crime scene, and K-9 units also assisted in the investigation. The investigation remains ongoing.
