OSCEOLA COUNTY, Florida – An Orlando, Florida man died as a result of injuries he sustained in a crash that occurred on the Florida Turnpike near mile marker 226 in Osceola County, Florida around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 2019.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 48-year-old man was driving a tow truck towing a vehicle southbound on the Florida Turnpike in the left lane.
Meanwhile, 56-year-old German Salgado was driving a semi-truck hauling two trailers southbound on the Turnpike in the right lane.
Witnesses told FHP troopers that the tow truck traveled into the right lane and the right side of the tow truck struck the left side of one of the trailers being hauled by the semi-truck.
The tow truck then traveled back into the left lane and continued off of the roadway and struck a tree.
The tow truck driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was later transported to the Osceola County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a factor, according to FHP reports.
The semi-truck driver did not suffer any injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
