Suspect In Custody After Police Chase Through Melbourne and Palm Bay

MELBOURNE and PALM BAY, Florida – A suspect is in custody following a police chase through Melbourne and Palm Bay, Florida that began around 10 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019.

The suspect led Melbourne police on a chase in a silver Infinity beginning on University Boulevard and then southbound on South Babcock Street into Palm Bay city limits.

The suspect then turned west on Palm Bay Road and south on Emerson Drive Northeast.

After stop sticks were deployed, the suspect’s vehicle caught fire and came to a stop on Brickell Street Southeast.

The suspect then fled on foot but was apprehended near Anderson Street Southeast.

Palm Bay Fire Rescue responded to the scene and contained a vehicle fire that resulted from the suspect crashing his car

“Please be advised that there is heavy law enforcement presence in the area of Brickell Street and Emerson Drive,” the Palm Bay Police Department announced on its Facebook page.

“Officers from Palm Bay PD and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a pursuit in the area. The individual has been captured and the scene is secure at this time. There have been reports of accidents as a result of the pursuit, so please avoid the area.”

An unknown amount of cash was located by police near the vehicle.
