SpaceX Rocket Launch From Cape Canaveral Tonight

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida – The launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying a mobile broadband communications satellite is scheduled for liftoff tonight, Monday, December 16, 2019, from Space Launch Complex 40 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

The launch window opens at 7:10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and closes at 8:38 p.m.

Cape Canaveral Weather 90% ‘GO’

According to the latest forecast from the U.S. Air Force 45th Weather Squadron, there is a 90% chance of favorable weather for the launch at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The primary weather concern for launch is cumulus clouds.

Attempted Landing On Drone Ship

Following stage separation, SpaceX will attempt a landing of the Falcon 9 Block 5 first stage on the autonomous drone ship Of Course I Still Love You in the Atlantic Ocean.

Falcon 9 Core Reused For The Third Time

A Falcon 9 core that was flown on NASA’s CRS-17 and CRS-18 missions will be used again for the JCSAT-18/Kacific1 mission.

Payload

JCSAT-18/Kacific1 is a mobile broadband communications satellite owned by SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation of Japan and Kacific Broadband Satellites of Singapore.

Built by Boeing, JCSAT-18/Kacific1 will provide mobile and broadband services across the Asia-Pacific region.
