Florida Bill To Make Day After Halloween A School Holiday

TALLAHASSEE, Florida – A bill introduced by Florida Senator Annette Taddeo (D-Miami) would make the day after Halloween a school holiday for all school districts in the Sunshine State.

Under the bill (SB 1462), each district school board shall “designate the day after Halloween a school holiday unless Halloween occurs on a Friday or a Saturday.”

The proposed law would take effect on July 1, 2020, but would not affect the 2020-21 school year calendar because Halloween falls on a Saturday this year.
