WEST MELBOURNE, Florida – An Rockledge man died and a Palm Bay woman was seriously injured as a result of injuries they sustained in a crash that occurred on I-95 near mile marker 180 in West Melbourne, Florida.
Just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 25-year-old Logan Kennedy was driving a 2009 Mazda 3 southbound on I-95.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Kennedy lost control of the Mazda 3 which then left the roadway and struck a metal gate and fence before overturning several times.
Kennedy was pronounced deceased at the scene and transported to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A passenger in the Mazda 3, 29-year-old Kaycee Brookins, was seriously injured and transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.
Kennedy and Brookins were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
A toxicology report is still pending for Kennedy.
The crash remains under investigation.
