Skydiver Killed During Jump In Sebastian, Florida

SEBASTIAN, Florida – On Monday, February 17, 2020, at approximately 10:11 am, the Sebastian Police Department responded to the Sebastian Municipal Airport in response to a report that a skydiver made a hard landing.

Once on the scene, emergency medical personnel were administering aid to the injured skydiver and transported him to Sebastian River Medical Center.

The skydiver was identified as 49-year-old Christian Stevens of Canton, Georgia, who had approximately twenty years of skydiving experience and was also a skydiving instructor.

Mr. Stevens was pronounced deceased by medical staff at Sebastian River Medical Center.

Police say that it appears Mr. Stevens was attempting to avoid another skydiver during his landing, causing him to impact the ground at a high rate of speed.

The Sebastian Police Department is working in conjunction with the Federal Aviation Administration on the investigation.
