Titusville Motorcyclist Killed In Orlando Crash

ORLANDO, Florida – A Brevard County man died as a result of injuries he sustained in a vehicle crash that occurred just at 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2020, on Colonial Drive in Orlando, Florida.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Mary Evans of Orlando, Florida, was stopped at a red light in a 1998 Ford SUV on eastbound Colonial Drive in the left turn lane at the intersection with Avalon Road.

Meanwhile, 53-year-old Derek Meyers of Titusville, Florida was riding a Zero motorcycle westbound on Colonial Drive.

The light for the Colonial Drive through lanes turned green but the left turn light remained red.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Evans started to make her left turn as the motorcycle entered the intersection.

The front of the Ford then struck the right side of the motorcycle.

Meyers was transported to Waterford Lakes ER where he was later pronounced deceased.

According to FHP, alcohol was not a factor in the crash and Meyers was wearing a helmet.

Charges are pending against Evans.

The crash remains under investigation.
