Brevard County To Close Beaches

UPDATE: Brevard County Commission Asks Sheriff Not To Enforce Beach Closure

BREVARD COUNTY, Florida – The Brevard County Policy Group voted 5-4 to close Brevard County beaches from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The City of Satellite Beach already announced that it will also close beaches this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Brevard County lifeguards will be on duty on the beaches during the closure but will instruct anyone who violates the closure to leave the beach.

The City of Satellite Beach and City of Cocoa Beach had indicated during the discussion prior to the vote that they would close their beaches regardless of how the Brevard County Policy Group voted, Brevard County Commission Chair Bryan Lober said during a press conference.
