LAKELAND, Florida – All Publix stores and pharmacies will return to normal operating hours starting on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
“Starting Saturday, May 16, Publix stores will open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the pharmacy will return to regular operating hours. Thank you for your patience over the past several weeks while we’ve operated under reduced hours,” the supermarket chain announced on Thursday.
“With our newly expanded hours, we will suspend reserved shopping hours. We do understand some customers prefer to shop when the stores are less crowded. We encourage you to shop during the first hour of the day, when we can better accommodate that need.”
Publix shortened its operating hours when shelves had become empty to near-empty on a daily basis in late March and early April 2020 as panicked consumers hoarded toilet paper, bleach, hand sanitizer, disinfectants, paper towels, baby wipes, frozen vegetables, can goods, rice, and pasta in preparation for possible quarantines and self-isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
