Pregnant women could be exposed to long periods of standing in line, stampedes, pushing, and an overall stressful environment when trying to take advantage of 2011 Black Friday Ad Deals.
Over the last few years, there have been reports of pregnant women being trampled upon by waiting crowds when store doors are opened, with at least one allegedly resulting in a miscarriage at a Wal-Mart.
Of course, pregnant women could still take advantage of 2011 Cyber Monday deals and forgo the crowds. But as experience Black Friday shoppers know, many of the best deals are still in the brick and mortar storefronts.
The best tool to use on Black Friday is the mom-to-be’s own best judgment. Did the store(s) that you went to last year for Black Friday have long lines, or pushing, or anything else that you would not put yourself through if pregnant? If the answer is yes, then it is probably a good idea to sit this Black Friday out.
