Secret Military Atlas V Launch Delayed
CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida — Monday’s 8:26 a.m. EDT launch of the Atlas V 401 rocket with its secretive National Reconnaissance Office (NROL-38) payload had been delayed by United Launch Alliance.
Following the vehicle roll to the Space Launch Complex 41 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force station in Florida yesterday, United Launch Alliance says that its team identified an issue with an environmental control system duct that failed near its connection to the mobile launch platform.
The vehicle will be rolled back to the Vertical Integration Facility for removal and replacement of the duct prior to launch.
The launch is now planned for Wednesday June 20, 2012.
The mission is the second of four planned launches by United Launch Alliance for the National Reconnaissance Office.
According to the latest NROL launch weather prediction issued by the U.S. Air Force 45th Weather Squadron at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, there was a 70% chance of favorable weather for Monday’s launch.
