TEXAS A & M University, Texas — Three people have died and five more were injured in a shooting that occurred on Monday near Texas A & M University according to a statement released by the College Station Police Department. At approximately 12:12 p.m. on Monday, officers with the College Station Police Department responded to the 200 block of Fidelity Street for a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers found a Brazos County Constable down in front of a residence on Fidelity. The suspect in this case, 35-year-old Thomas Caffall pictured above, engaged the officers with gunfire over a period of approximately 30 minutes before he was shot by a College Station Officer.
The three who died are Brazos County Precinct 1 Constable Brian Bachmann, 43-year-old Chris Northcliff of College Station, Texas, and the suspect, 35-year-old Thomas Caffall.
Four of the five wounded victims are police officers identified as Justin Oehlke, Brad Smith, and Phil Dorsett. The fifth wounded victim is a yet-to-be identifed 55-year-old woman.
An additional College Station officer was injured but refused transport to the hospital. As a result of the initial investigation, detectives have determined that Constable Bachmann had gone to a residence located at 211 Fidelity Street to serve eviction papers.
