In case you were wondering what is the date for Thanksgiving 2012 or Black Friday 2012, Thanksgiving this year is on Thursday, November 22, 2012, and Black Friday is on Friday, November 23, 2012.
So we are just two weekends before Thanksgiving 2012 which means that this is the last practical weekend (November 10 & 11) to go to garage and rummage sales for Thanksgiving cookware, utensils, and other household items before Turkey Day (forget about the weekend of November 17 & 18 as relatives start arriving here in sunny Florida).
Garage and rummage sales are always overflowing with pots, pans, and other cooking items for just pennies on the dollar. Anything you can buy at a garage sale now, instead of a store later, and save a little extra money just before Black Friday is a great way to demonstrate your shopping savvy and frugal character to perhaps justify (either to yourself or significant other) spending more money the day after Thanksgiving on Black Friday.
First, take inventory of your kitchen to see if anything you need is missing, broken, or needs to be replaced since last year (casserole dish covers always seem to die young or go to missing sock Heaven).
Second, think about how your cookware handled the last Thanksgiving and what you could use this year. Was a casserole or pot or pan too small to handle the job?
