Art of Sand Coming to Brevard Zoo

MELBOURNE, Florida — The Art of Sand at Brevard Zoo exhibit titled Wild Florida: Past, Present and Future, presented by  Toyota of Melbourne and Lexus of Melbourne, opens 10 a.m. on February 16, 2013 during President’s Day weekend.
The exhibit consists of 13 sand sculptures carved into the native landscape of Brevard Zoo located through a wooded quarter-mile trail.  The time periods represented in the exhibit includes pre-history (24 million B.C. to 10,000 B.C.), pre-Columbian (7,000 B.C. to 1,500 A.D.), Spanish arrival by Ponce de Leon in 1513, Florida territorial period in 1821, and The Modern Era in the 1940’s.

The exhibit will remain open through Memorial Day weekend.  Exhibit hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission price (in addition to Zoo admission): $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for children ages 2 to 12. Children under 2 are free.

Art of Sand is produced through a partnership of the Brevard Cultural Alliance, SCB Marketing and Brevard Zoo.
