Shawna Lee Ormsby Involved In Orange County Fatal Crash

ORANGE COUNTY, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol reported that 23-year-old Salvador Sapeg, Jr. of Orlando, Florida, died as a result of injuries he sustained in a traffic accident that occurred at the intersection of State Road 50 and State Road 408 in east Orange County, Florida.

21-year-old Shawna Lee Ormsby of Titusville, Florida, was driving a 2010 Dodge Avenger eastbound on State Road 50 in the inside lane just before 4 a.m. on Saturday.  Meanwhile, Cesar Omar Carmona, age 21, of Orlando, was driving a 2001 Saab from the State Road 408 eastbound exit ramp into the intersection with State Road 50 on a green light.

FHP troopers say that for unknown reasons, Ormsby allegedly ran the red light, causing the front of the Avenger to strike the left side of the Saab.

Sapeg, a passenger in the Saab, was transported to Florida Hospital East.  Carmona was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) where he is listed in critical condition.  A second passenger in the Saab, 29-year-old Sonny Joseph Valentin of Palm Coast, Florida, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to ORMC.  All three men were wearing their seatbelts according to the FHP report.

Ormsby, who was also wearing her seatbelt, suffered minor injuries and taken to ORMC.

FHP says that the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
