According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Hadley had parked there to let his juvenile passengers exit the Ford to walk to school. Four passengers exited the vehicle and started walking in a north direction away from Ford. That’s when Hadley’s son stopped in front of the Ford and knelt down to tie his shoe out of his father’s view.
Hadley waited until it was clear and made a left turn. The front left of the Ford then ran over the boy during the turn. The Father continued the left turn but stopped when he was alerted by other pedestrians that the boy was underneath the vehicle.
Hadley then reversed the Ford and parked. The boy was transported to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Florida where he is listed in serious condition.
According to FHP reports, Hadley said that he let all of his children out of the vehicle, as he always does, and started to make a left turn back onto Clearlake Road and that he did not see his son.
The incident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
