NHC: Tropical Cyclone Unlikely To Form Off U.S. East Coast
MIAMI, Florida – As of 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Sunday, September 20, 2015, the National Hurricane Center issued a tropical outlook due to the presence of an area of low pressure located between Bermuda and the southeast coast of the United States.
The system, dubbed Invest 96L, is unlikely to become a tropical cyclone because environmental conditions are no longer conductive for tropical development.
According to NHC forecasters, any further development would be non-tropical in character.
Spaghetti models for Invest 96L are not in agreement as to which direction this system may take. Some models predict that the storm will meander off the oasts of Virgina and the Carolinas before heading out into the open Atlantic while other spaghetti plots take Invest 96L towards the New England states.
