Brevard County Schools Rise, Fall In U.S. News and World Report's 2017 Ranking

BREVARD COUNTY, Florida –   Several Brevard County Public Schools have notably risen and fallen in U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools in 2017.

Two of those Brevard County high schools, both schools of choice, were among the top 100 high schools in the United States.
The top-ranking Brevard County high school was West Shore Jr./Sr. High School in Melbourne, Florida, which rose from 54th in the U.S last year to 32nd this year. West Shore also rose from 8th in Florida last year to 5th in 2017.
The second top-ranking school in Brevard County was Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School in Merritt Island, Florida, which dropped from 30th nationally last year to 50th in 2017. Edgewood also fell from 4th place in the state of Florida in 2016 to 7th place this year.
Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School, the top scoring neighborhood (non-choice) high school on Florida’s Space Coast, rose from 601st in the U.S. last year to 346th this year, and also rose seven places from 38th to 31st among Florida high schools.

Viera High School was the second top scoring neighborhood high school followed by Satellite Senior High School which ranked 84th and 114th in Florida, respectively.

Rounding out the top neighborhood high schools was Merritt Island High School which came in at 132nd in Florida, Palm Bay Magnet Senior High School at 134th, and Melbourne Senior High School at 139th.

Bayside High School in Palm Bay, Florida dropped from 133rd in Florida in 2016 to 150th in 2017.
Titusville High School fell from 146th in the Sunshine State in 2016 to no ranking in 2017.
