PORT CANAVERAL, Florida – Two boats collided in the Atlantic Ocean two miles east of Port Canaveral, Florida on Sunday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard received a call from the crew aboard the 48-foot fishing vessel Joyce Marie following a collision between the commercial fishing vessel’s outrigger and a 25-foot recreational boat.
The Coast Guard Station in Port Canaveral then launched a 45-foot medium-crew Response Boat to assist the boaters. The Coast Guard took aboard two adults and two children from the recreational boat after it had become disabled. The boaters were taken to nearby Jetty Park where emergency service personnel were awaiting. Minor injuries were reported to the adult male.
The Coast Guard is investigating the collision.
