CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida – A 54-year-old man allegedly traveled from Mississippi to Florida where he tracked down and stabbed his ex-girlfriend on Thursday, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
The 40-year-old woman and Garcia-Hernandez were involved in a prior relationship for approximately 10 years. But the woman moved from Mississippi to Florida in March 2017 to get away from him.
Investigators say that once Garcia-Hernandez learned that his ex-girlfriend was employed at a Residence Inn Marriott in Cape Canaveral, he traveled to Florida and arrived in Brevard County last night.
Gabriel-Hernandez then traveled from Cocoa, Florida to Cape Canaveral, Florida on Thursday morning to confront the woman outside the hotel where she worked. During their conversation, the ex-girlfriend attempted to make a call on her phone but he allegedly grabbed the phone and stabbed her just before 9 a.m.
Deputies later located Gabriel-Hernandez at Lake Drive in Cocoa where he was arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated stalking. He was transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held on a no bond status.
The victim is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
