NOAA: Tropical Storm Jose Projected Path, Spaghetti Models


NOAA’s National Hurricane Center issued a Public Advisory due to Tropical Storm Jose located off of the U.S. northeast coast.

As of 8 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Thursday, September 21, 2017, Jose has maximum sustained winds of 60 mph (95 km/h), with higher gusts.
Jose is currently a tropical storm on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. NHC forecasters expect that Jose will become a post-tropical cyclone by Friday.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 230 miles (370 km) from the center of the tropical cyclone.

Spaghetti models forecast that Tropical Storm Jose’s projected path will take the eye of the tropical cyclone northward parallel to the Massachusetts coast before curving eastward out into the open North Atlantic on Friday.

Tropical Storm Jose is located 150 miles southeast of Nantucket, Massachusetts and is stationary. NHC forecasters expect Jose to meander off the New England coast for the next several days.
NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center forecasts that the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, could be the busiest in seven years.
