Florida High School Student Charged After Biting Off Chicken’s Head

ORANGE CITY, Florida – A 17-year-old student at University High School in Orange City, Florida was charged today with felony animal cruelty and trespassing on school property after he was identified as the person who allegedly decapitated a live chicken Easter weekend.

A Volusia County Sheriff’s Office school resource deputy at the high school identified David Andrew Jimenez as the student who was bragging about biting the head off of a chicken.

Investigators say that came on campus around 11 p.m. on Saturday and entered a chicken coop that was at the school for a “Farm to Table” event held earlier that day.

Upon arriving on campus on Monday, a teacher discovered the headless body of a chicken in the parking lot. The chicken’s head was later discovered inside the chicken coop, and eggs had been thrown in the gym and against the gym doors.

Jimenez was turned over to his mother on Tuesday with a court date on Wednesday. Additional charges are possible against any other students who were involved in the incident, VCSO warned.
