So you received a gift this holiday season that didn’t come with a receipt but you need to return it for any number of reasons. This is how to return an Amazon gift without a receipt.
Usually, Amazon’s return policy is limited to within 30 days of the day the item was shipped. But Amazon has a special Holiday Return policy.
Items shipped by Amazon.com between November 1 and December 31, 2019, may be returned until January 31, 2020, for a full refund.
If you need to return a gift to Amazon without a receipt, you must contact sign in to your Amazon account and contact Amazon customer service.
In order for Amazon to approve a return without a receipt, Amazon customer service must be able to determine the 17-digit Amazon order number.
To help Amazon locate the order without a receipt, provide Amazon with some other ordering information like the tracking number, name of the sender, shipping address, email address or phone number which can usually be found on the shipping box.
If your Amazon return without a receipt is approved, you will be provided with an Amazon return authorization and Amazon return label.
Put the return authorization inside your package and attach the label to the outside of it.
If your gift return is authorized, Amazon or the Seller will process your refund as an Amazon.com Gift Card after your return is received.
Amazon will add the Gift Card to the account you used to generate your return from the Online Returns Center.
Once the refund processes, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from Amazon.
If you were the gift giver, your refund will be processed to the original payment method.
It can take up to 25 days for a returned item to reach Amazon. After Amazon received the item, the refund is processed in 3 to 5 business days.
Amazon will reimburse the shipping cost of a returned item up to $20.
